Rice's Business Devotions Mount Sion Obituary

The following devotions of Bro. Rice are given for our example.

On waking each day, his first prayer was "Praise to you, O Christ",  then at 6.00am he attended Mass.  A particular devotion was to the Real Presence of God in the Blessed Sacrament.  At a time when it was customary for the faithful to receive the Sacraments only at Easter and at Christmas, he was conspicuous for receiving them frequently.  He read his Bible daily and from childhood he had a deep devotion to Our Lady and especially to the Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Prayer for his canonisation

O God, in Your love, you chose Edmund Rice to establish new religious brotherhoods for the Christian education and welfare of young people.  We ask You to look favourably on his life and good works and grant that soon he may be honoured as a Saint of the Church.  Amen.
